The story begins with a roadblock set up by Hototo. The roadblock is caused by Hototo, a young man who wants revenge for the death of his father. After the team’s rescue, Hototo steals a stolen vehicle and runs off. Gil and Kosame have to spend eight hours reassembling it. The team reaches the next stage in time, but Gil’s barricade prevents them from leaving. Eventually, Hototo is back to join the team and help Appare fight against the dynamite.
In the meantime, Appare meets Kosame Ishikki, a Japanese immigrant, who uses his sword training to earn money. The two end up in Los Angeles after a large steamship rescues them. The duo then decide to race the Trans-America Wild Race, in which the prize money will help them return home. During the race, they encounter rivals and bandits along the way.
The movie’s storyline is based on a Japanese manga and is quite popular in the United States. Kosame is a samurai under Lord Kuroda. He is also a samurai, and was dragged to America with Appare by a group of people. Kosame has PTSD from an incident in his past, and has trouble attacking another person.
